GSAT 2024 Festival Opens for a Fusion of Global Startups Gathering “the Firsts and the Bests” in One Place

The Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Government (Governor Park Wan-su) announced that the global startup convergence festival GSAT 2024 will be held from Apr. 1 to Apr. 3 at the Changwon Exhibition Convention Center (CECO) and parts of Changwon Moonsung University.
GSAT stands for Gyeongnam, Science, Art, and Technology, meaning that through a fusion of science and art, Gyeongnam, or Gyeongsangnam-do, is stimulating the technological startup scene. GSAT 2024, the first global startup convergence festival, is being held against the impressive backdrop of the first and best* elements the region’s startup scene has to offer.
* First: Overseas keynote speeches (from speakers like David Mindell and Reed Tuckson), youth startup camp, etc.
Best: Technological prowess of participating enterprises (Samsung, Hanwha, Doosan, KAI, etc.), startup competition (50:1), etc.
This event will take place centered on three installed stage spaces (G, S, A-Stage) between CECO and Changwon Moonsung University. The event features various programming such as a global conference, a startup competition, and an investment briefing, through which one can get a closer look into the startup ecosystem that goes beyond the region to extend to the entire world.
The global conference, the core program of the event, features new topics each day during the GSAT period, bringing together scholars in areas such as aerospace, media content, digital production, and biotechnology. Famous influencers such as YouTuber Orbit, startup founder and comedian Jang Dong-min, and neuroscientist Chang Dong-seon are also scheduled to attend, elevating the popularity of the event.
Moreover, in contrast with existing festivals that center on the workers in the startup ecosystem, GSAT 2024 has prepared events for youth through the “Youth Startup Camp” (part of A-Stage) such as the founder-youth panel, youth startup grounds, and busking concerts to bridge the gap between youth and startups.
Governor Park Wan-su said in his opening address, “The opening of GSAT 2024 is the first step in making Gyeongsangnam-do the best central startup hub,” emphasizing that “GSAT has been developed as a global startup festival so that we can continuously develop and establish three major hubs and expand investment to create the startup capital of the world.”
