After meeting the fleet of Won Gyun, Admiral changed after Japanese fleet and learned that the enemies were in Sacheonpo. The Admiral ordered for Jangsajin with the ships lining up in one line for the sea of Sacheonpo was narrow and severe tidal difference and headed into Sacheonpo. He tried to lure the Japanese fleet out of the port, but approximately 200 Japanese force only shoot back with their rifles from the port.
At hat time, when the tide changed, the Fleet of Yi sun-shin was able to approach to the port. In this battle, the Admiral had his turtle ship for the first time. The turtle ship went into the enemy formation before the fleet made the attack and scattered the Japanese ships. And, the Japanese forces deserted the vessels and ran away on land. Then, the Admiral sank all the remaining ships. The Admiral was injured by having hit by a shot on his left shoulder in this Battle.

About the time that the Fleet of Yi sun-shin sank most of the Japanese force and finalize the victory, the scouting ship informed that the Japanese fleet was coming from Geojedo. Therefore, the Admiral led his fleet to chase after the Japanese fleet but he was unable to find them.

Jeolla Jwasuyoung met the fleet of Admiral Yi sun-shin on June 4 and formed the United Fleet. Therefore, the power of the Joseon Fleet was expanded for twice the power. A citizen reported that a Japanese fleet was berthed in Danghangpo of the Goseong area. Admiral Yi sun-shin had the meeting with the generals to have the Japanese fleet lured out of Danghangpo. The Joseon Fleet was divided into two division and the first division was headed to Danghangpo first. And, the second division was standing by until the first division signalled for it to come into the port for the attack. In this battle, the turtle ship headed first to sink the commander ship, Adake, first and then sank most other Japanese ships.

The United Fleet departed around the dawn and arrived in Jeungdo. Around this area, the Joseon Fleet made effort to find the trace of the Japanese fleet and arrived in Youngdeungpo at noon. Here, they found a small scale of Japanese fleet and chased after them. With the defeat in this battle, the Japanese forces deserted their ships and ran away to the land. According to the record of the Japanese forces, after this battle, the commander of the Japanese force, Kurusima Michisima committed suicide on the shore. The United Fleet was scattered on June 10 and each went ahead to its own miliary base.
