Around July or August, 4 months after Danghangpo Battle, the movement of Japanese forces began to show more systematically that the coastal areas around the Jangmunpo area had the works of long-term stay on each ports. Knowing such a fact, the Admiral Yi sun-shin was prepared to attack the Japanese invaders with joint effort on sea and land.

From the early part of August, the Admiral Yi sun-shin discussed with Dowonsu Gwon Yul for several times for the action plans of Engagement in Battle. While spending busy days for military actions, he received the information from General Gwon Yul on September 22 that he was going to "bring his soldiers to a battle on 27."

From this time, Yi sun-shin took more aggressive stance and provide the uniforms to the commanders of each province for the battle on the 24th. Accordingly, Jeolla Jwado had nine blue uniforms with 10 red uniforms for Jeolla Woodo and 4 black uniforms for Gyeongsang-do. With the colored uniforms, they were able to identify different military units. The blue indicated the Gwagun, red for Post Force and black for Support Force.

On the 26th day, famous warriors in Gwak Jae-woo, Kim Deokryong and others have reached to Gyeonnaeryang in accordance with the instruction of Gwon Yul, and Yi sun-shin also departed Hansando on the 27th to reach to the sea of Jeok-do to have these generals get on to the battle ships. It was the time for implementing the cooperative strategy on land and sea that Yi sun-shin wanted in actual battle.

Thereafter, on the 28th, the fleet took rest at Hyung-do and headed into the sea of Jangmunpo on the 29th. But the Japanese force stayed in the steep area and did not come out fighting. They were building the high pavilions and pile up the fortress on both peaks but did not attempt to fight back. Since the Japanese invader did not come out and fighting, Yi sun-shin attacked the two empty ships on the front, but the united force had its base in Chilcheonryang to take several days of surveilance on the Japanese invader in Jangmunpo and others.
Also, he had the battle ships to attach but the Japanese invader did not respond that he had planned to make all out efforts of army and navy on October 4. This was almost the same strategy that was undertaken in the Woongpo Battle in 1593.
Gwak Jae-woo, Kim Deokryong and others did not attack the Japanese invader when they were swinging the swords to run in all directions for the fear. They rather chose to come back to the ships without further attack.
Without much success, Yi sun-shin returned to Chilcheonryang with the lamenting on the incompetent army to fight well.
However, on the 6th, again he had the front line ships to attach Jangmunpo, but the enemy ship were all evacuated the site abandoning with the plate saying that, "Japan has been negotiating with Ming Dynasty for truce and we are not allowed to fight now."
Therefore, Yi sun-shin considered the fact that it would be dangerous for soldiers to land on the home of the Japanese invader and also the ground force under the command of Gwak Jae-woo, Kim Deokryong and others was small in size that the united force was disintegrated on the 7th and returned to Hansando on the 8th.
